How to care for house and conservatory plants

House and conservatory plants can get very dusty leaves which can affect their health so clean the plants' leaves regularly. Shiny leaved house and conservatory plants need cleaning with a damp cloth, whereas it is best to clean house plants with spiky leaves with a soft brush.

When the weather is warm, open as many windows and doors in the house or conservatory to reduce the humidity and also the risk of disease to the plants.

In the right conditions house and conservatory plants can grow well so ensure they have not grown too large for their pot. If they have re-pot the plants carefully.

Shrubs kept in the conservatory, such as Abutilon, Cestrum and Brugmansia will need pruning to just above the shoot in Spring time.

Fuchsias will also need to be cut back during March or April and then placed in a bright spot for re-growth to occur.
